Do Wag Hotels Provide the Ultimate Pet Resort?

Just by looking at pictures on the website, it would appear WagHotels is a state-of-the-art pet resort designed with your pet in mind. The hotels hold 4.5/5 stars for the Redwood city and Sacramento location, and ⅘ stars for the San Francisco location according to Yelp. Most reviews are positive and note the cleanliness, professionalism, and love of dogs exhibited by the staff, however a few reviews detail nightmare experiences, one involving shock collar injuries, another noting injuries sustained from others dogs, and some owners noting their dog appeared traumatized after they picked them up, perhaps from over-exposure in the play area, which the reviewers consensus was around 40 dogs at one time.

  • Luxury pet boarding
  • Experienced staff and trainers
  • 24/7 video monitoring available
  • Variety of boarding, activity, and play options

  • Boarding prices aren’t cheap
  • The few 1-star yelp reviews detail horror stories no one would want to happen to their pet

Bottom Line: Should You Use WagHotels?

This is a tricky one. Up until you get to the 1-star reviews, Wag Hotels seems like the ultimate pet resort for your furry family member. But after reading them, one would be aptly dissuaded from using Wag Hotels, despite the numerous glowing reviews posted for them. If you do decide to use Wag Hotels, I recommend checking in regularly on your pet to make sure nothing is out of order and they are behaving as usual, and take advantage of the video monitoring offered. Talk to the staff and make sure you can trust them before entrusting your pet to them. Most likely, your pet will have an awesome time and want to come back, but know that any pet boarding service contains a risk of malpractice or harm to your pet.
