About The “Ove” Glove – As Seen On TV

The As Seen on TV ‘Ove’Glove lets you safely handle extremely hot dishes, pots, pans and lids while taking them out of an oven or a microwave for your left or right hand. The Ove Glove is also perfect for the barbeque or the kitchen and handling other hot surfaces around the house or other kind of projects around the home.  The Ove Glove dramatically extends the time you can handle a hot object in your hands. It has a silicon grip for a secure non-slip hold. Made with Nomex and Kevlar by DuPont top quality materials. The same material used for fire fighters’ clothing it can withstand temperatures up to 540° Fahrenheit. It’s also important to note the ‘Ove’ Glove loses protection when it gets wet & is used at the same time. While it is machine washable and requires routine washing to maintain peak performance, the instructions point out the glove is not waterproof. Hot liquids will penetrate the insulation and can result in burns. The caution label included in the box stresses that the glove should not be used if it becomes wet. Joseph Enterprises, Inc is the ONLY legal, manufacturer and distributor of the trademarked “Ove” Glove.

Positive Experiences

  • Great for loading fire places and stoves. I started using these because we heat with a wood stove and my hands and fingers get hot and dry from putting wood into the stove. Eventually, the skin on my fingers begins to crack and it’s painful. These gloves protect my hands and keep them cool while loading wood. They’re great.
  • Could not live without it. I bought two ove-gloves many years ago when they were first marketed and use them all the time for oven and grill. I cannot imagine not using them. I am ready to buy two more. They are the best.
  • A kitchen revolution. Throw your clumsy, awkward oven mitts away! The Ove-Gloves are extremely flexible and light weight, yet protect hands from heat very well. I like them so well I bought pairs for each of three relatives and friends.

Negative Experiences

  • Not always heat- proof. I have had these gloves for several years now. I have to say first that they are still the gloves I use most. In most circumstances, they are fine – so long as you are getting something DRY out of the oven that you will hold for a short time only. I bake a lot of bread and use baking stones in a very hot oven. I can’t reposition the stones with these gloves – the heat comes through the gloves in the time it takes to move the stones. And if the gloves get wet – even a little bit wet – they conduct heat very well. So, though I do use these allot, I’m looking for a better solution.
  • The glove is ok for the dry hot plates for up to about a minute of duration. However, if hot liquid get splattered over the glove, you have NO protection at all. I tried to take out hot plate of meat with liquid from the oven. The hot liquid penetrated the glove and little bit of scalded fingers were the result. The glove soaks up the hot liquid and you have almost immediate scalding.
